Henry Clay Goodwin, resident of Afton, died at 9 p.m. Saturday in a Staunton hospital after an illness of nine months. He was born August 17, 1883, in Nelson County, son of the late William Henry and Margaret Plunkett Goodwin.
Mr. Goodwin was a well known fruit grower in the Afton community where he lived all his life. He was a member of the Nelson County school board for twelve years, member of the Board of Supervisors, Nelson County, for eight years, and steward of Rodes Methodist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Farrar Goodwin, Afton; two daughters, Mrs. Earl Glassgo, Afton, and Miss Kitty Goodwin, Madison College, Harrisonburg; two brothers, J. J. Goodwin, and C. P. Goodwin, both of Nellysford; also a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral procession will leave the Etter Funeral Home at 1:20 p.m. tomorrow at Hebron Baptist Church, Avon. Service will be conducted b the Rev. B. F. Robinson, pastor of the church, with interment in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be O. F. Farrar, R. A. Farrar, W. G Farrar, C. V. Farrar, H. L. Farrar, H. S. Farrar., H. T. Farrar, and J. P. Farrar.
Honoary bearers will be L. W. Fox, H. T. Page, Robert MacGregor, L. C. Dawson, Robert Whitehead, John Whitehead, Judge Edward Meeks, H. H. McLain, R. W. Mays, H. D. Mawyer, Russell Smith, G. D. Lawman, Walter Hickok, E. W. Barger, W. D. Shumate, Judge C. G. Quesenbery, Dr. Boyd Payne, John Cris Goodloe, F. O. Strickler, Millard Strickler, Page Harris, W. E.
