She was my aunt.

Lavina "Dottie" Thomas of Milton, Ky., died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at her residence.

She was born in Trimble County, Ky., the daughter of Emmett and Cordie Varble Jackson. She was retired from RTD Answering Service of Iowa and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Clinton, Iowa, and the Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and all kinds of yard work.

She is survived by one brother, Aubrey Jackson of Madison, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair Thomas, in 1999; one son, Thomas Jackson Thomas in 1974; her parents; two brothers, Graham and Owen Jackson; and one sister, Mary Stockdale.

There was a memorial service later in Clinton, Iowa. Burial was in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery in Clinton. The body was cremated. There was no visitation.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Milton Baptist Church in Milton, Ky.

Wood-Oakley Funeral Home in Milton, Ky., was in charge of arrangements.
