Son of William and Fayetta Warthan of Gosport. He was a graduate of Stinesville High School. He enlisted in the Army shortly after graduation and had served eight years, four of them in Germany and since January 3, 1968 in Vietnam. He was serving with the 1st Infantry Division. He had been injured when the truck in which he was riding in Binh Duong, South Vietnam was hit by enemy fire and died on April8, 1968. He was married to Ingrid Warthan who was living in Germany and also had two children, Marvin, age 4, and Martani, age 2.
