Mrs. Barbara Scott von Handschuh
Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Scott von Handschuh, 47, of 1316 Dilworth Road, sister of Hollywood movie start Randolph Scott, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, The Rev. Francis H. Craighill of Hendersonville will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Pall bearers are Henry Messick, George Scott Heath, Basil Spanner, Loonis McGlohon, Freeman Edgerton, and A. Edison Stewart. Mrs. Handschuh died Monday in a local hospital. A Charlotte native, she was born Feb. 8, 1916, daughter of the late George Grant and Lucy Crane Scott. Mrs. Handschuh was a life member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, the Society of Descendants of Knights of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, The Sovereign Colonial Society of Americans of Royal Descent and the Plantagenet Society. She was a Hereditary Member of the Magna Carta. Surviving are her husband, Charles J. von Handschuh; two son, Richard S. von Handschuh and Carl S. von Handschuh of Charlotte; a daughter, Miss Laurance S. von Handschuh of charlotte; four sisters, Mrs. Lucille Scott Perry, Miss Catherine Strother Scott of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Wesley T. Heath of Charlotte and Mrs. John Carl Robbert of Stockholm, Sweden, and two brothers, Randolph Scott and Joseph C. Scott of Charlotte. Randolph Scott will be unable to attend the funeral because of family illness. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, friends may send memorials to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Harry and Bryant.
