Julia Sowers, better known to her family as "Sissy," was the second born child of Albert Sebok (1903-1968) and Irene Vera Balla (1913-2006).
As a young girl, she lived with her parents in California and Texas. In 1961, she married Loren Dale Sowers (1939-1998), the son of Ora Sowers (1905-1978) and Stella Catherine Garrison (1908-1970), in Reno, Washoe Co., Nevada. Following their marriage, Julia and Loren lived in Texas for a while before moving to Florida by 1967, though they returned to Texas about two years later. Julia and Loren had two daughters together: Pamela and Debra.
Soon after the birth of her youngest daughter, Julia was diagnosed with breast cancer. Treatments, however, were unsuccessful, and the cancer spread. Julia passed away at her home in Houston, in the arms of her niece who was helping Julia following her treatments. Julia was buried in Old Hardin Cemetery next to her father.
