SWANSON, Mother Ruth Ellen - Age 86, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30PM Thursday, November 15, 2007 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM. Bishop H.B. Badon officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Thursday. Mother Swanson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Wednesday.
Mother Ruth Swanson was born May 17, 1921 in North Carolina, the daughter of Colonel Jack and Mammie Youngbey. Mother Swanson was a devoted member of New Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C. She served as a Sunday School Superintendent for many years and was one of the faithful mother's of the church.
Mother Ruth Swanson leaves to cherish her memory: son William "Billy" Sanders Swanson; several nieces and cousins; a host of other relatives and friends including Pastor Bishop H.B (Velma) Badon and the entire New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ family.
Mother Swanson was preceded in death by her husband, James Swanson; parents.
