Paul Robert Greenlease was the adopted son of Robert C. Greenlease Sr., and his first wife. Robert Greenlease Sr. was a wealthy Kansas City MO Cadillac dealer. Paul attended Kemper Military School in Booneville Missouri, where one of his classmates was Carl Austin Hall. Years later, Carl Hall would devastate the Greenlease family. On September 28, 1953, the girlfriend of Carl Hall, Bonnie Emily Heady, kidnapped 6 year old Robert Cosgrove Greenlease Jr., and that same day, Carl Hall shot Bobby Greenlease in the head, killing him. A $600,000 ransom was collected by Heady and Hall. They were arrested in St Louis, tried and convicted in Federal Court in Kansas City Missouri. On December 18, 1953, just 81 days after the kidnapping/murder, Bonnie Heady and Carl Hall were executed in the gas chamber of the Missouri State Penitentiary, while sitting side by side. During the ordeal, Paul Robert Greenlease would sometimes serve as the spokeman for the Greenlease family. Robert C. Greenlease Sr, Robert C. Greenlease Jr, and Virgina Greenlease (daughter of Robert Sr.) are also interred at this cemetery, in the Abbey Mausoleum.
