Following a brief illness, John Morris, 90, well known retired farmer, died Tuesday morning, February 10, 1942, at 9 o'clock, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. O. J. South, of Dilliner, RD1. Born July 1, 1851, in Whiteley Township, Mr. Morris was the son of the late Henry and Eliza Morris and married Emily Fordyce, who died 21 years ago. He spent most of his life in Whiteley Township and Waynesburg, retiring at the age of 66 and moving from his old homestead in Whiteley Township, near the Franklin Township border, to East High street, Waynesburg. A few years ago, he moved to the home of his daughter, in Greene Township, where he resided until his death.

Well known and highly respected in Greene County, Mr. Morris was a member of the Washington Street Methodist Church, which he joined in 1865, at the age of 14. Politically, he was a lifelong and devout Democrat.
