Darlene D. McAdams (Belts), 67, a resident of the Lafayette community, died Sunday afternoon, January 14, 2007 at Chehalem Health and Rehabilitation Center in Newberg.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1500 Old Sheridan road in McMinnville, OR with Pastor Bernell Clark, officiating.
Private Interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery at 11800 SE Mt Scott Boulevard, Portland, Oregon.
DARLENE DELORES MCADAMS was born December 22, 1939 in Billings, Montana, the daughter of the late George and Ernestine (Hogan) Belts. She was raised in Custer, Montana and later moved to Walla Walla, Washington her senior year in high school. She graduated from Walla Walla Valley Academy and then attended Walla Walla Adventist College for one year.
She was united in marriage to G. Richard "Dick" McAdams on June 28, 1959 in Portland, Oregon. They celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary this past June. Following their marriage they made their home in Fort Ord, California and then Portland. In 1967, they moved to McMinnville until 1981, when they settled in LaFayette.
Darlene worked as an office clerk for Oregon Mutual Insurance Company in McMinnville and as a dental assistant for a McMinnville dentist as well as several years employed at Smith Home Furnishings. After her many years of work she enjoyed accompanying Dick while he drove truck for Laughlin Trucking.
She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in McMinnville where she served as a Pathfinder Leader, Deaconess, and a Sabbath School Leader for cradle roll to youth. She also served as the President of the Dorcas Federation and volunteered at the Community Center.
Among her interests, Darlene enjoyed reading, coloring, doing puzzles, snowmobiling, working in the garden, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ernestine Belts.
Darlene is survived by her husband, G. Richard "Dick" McAdams, two sons and daughters-in-law; Wayne and Marilyn McAdams of Lafayette, Oregon; Rick and Penny McAdams of Oregon City, Oregon, a daughter and son-in-law, Vonda and MAJ Ronald Lain, stationed in Germany; and one sister, Georgene Roebuck of Monroe, Washington.
Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, Eric, Derek, Nicole, Jessica, Steve, Morgan, Mindy, Fawn, Ambra, Jens, Mason and Merritt.
