ELAINE OMAHEN née HUDAK
Elaine, 82, of El Cajon, CA for the last 50 years (formerly of La Salle, IL), died at Grossmont/Sharp Hospital in La Mesa, CA. Mrs. Omahen was born December 14, 1923 in La Salle, IL to Leonard and Janina (Lipowska) Hudak. Her mother died when she was nine months old and her father when she was six years old. She was raised by her grandparents John and Elizabeth Hudak, her aunts Salome Hudak and Monica Hudak, all of LaSalle, IL. She married Vincent Omahen Jr. on April 7, 1956 in St. Hyacinth's Church in La Salle, IL. She was a member of St. Kieran's Church, El Cajon, CA, a graduate of La Salle-Peru Township High School in 1942; attended Bradley College of Peoria, IL and graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1947. She worked as a Civil Service Clerk at the Green River Ordinance plant in Dixon, IL during World War II. After graduating from the University of Illinois, she spent time in Denver, CO and Milwaukee, WI. After her marriage, she and her husband moved to El Cajon, CA where she was employed in aerospace as well as home development construction. She and her husband volunteered in the Meals on Wheels program for five consecutive years. She was a member of the La Salle County Genealogy Guild and the Polish PGSA Society of America. Survivors are one son, two daughters, one daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999.
