He is known as the King of the Restoration of the French monarchy thanks to the decisions of the victorious nations of the wars against Napoleon Bonaparte and his abdication (1814). However, when Napoleon attempted to seize power by fleeing from Elba island, he was forced to abandon Paris (1815, March). Only after the defeat of the Bonapartist armies in Waterloo (1815, June), he was definitively confirmed king of France. Louis XVIII died of complications from obesity.
