Death of George A. Sherman Saturday Afternoon
"George A. Sherman passed away quietly Saturday afternoon at his residence, 1515 Sixth Street. He had been in ill health the past year and his death wan not unexpected.
Mr. Sherman had for several years conductedva livery stable and riding academy in this city and was well liked by all who knew him and respected him for his integrity and social qualities.
A number of years ago he and his brother (John) toured the state with a circus (the Sherman Circus), having admirably trained horses and being very prosperous.
He was a native of Illinois, and 52 years of age. He left a wife, Mrs. Kate Sherman." (Printed in the Woodland Daily Democrat from the Record Union)

"The deceased married Miss Kate Cross, of this city, daughter of Mrs. C. L. (Carrie) Cross, and sister to Miss Minnie Cross. His wife and one son, Earl (Erle) Cross Sherman, aged 18 years survive him. He was a native of Illinois aged 52 years, 3 months, 14 days old. The body will arrive in Woodland at noon on Tuesday and interment will be in the city cemetery. Mr. Sherman was held in high esteem by all who knew him."

California Funeral Home Records have his death as 16 Feb 1901, California Death and Burial records have it as 15 Feb 1901. Occupation was liveryman. Cause of death was pulmonary tuberculosis.
