Actress. She started her movie career in Germany in 1926 having won a magazine competition. A natural comedienne, her biggest starring role was in "Susanne macht ordnung" (Susanne Cleans Up) (1930), and she worked with the top directors and stars of the day. Because of the rise of the Nazis she left Berlin for Amsterdam and in 1934 made her only film in Dutch (Het meisje met den blauwen hoed" (The Girl In The Blue Hat). In 1939 she made her last film "Ein ganzer Kerl" (A Good Chap). She refused to work in Nazi propaganda films and found her career destroyed. All her attempts after the war to get back in the film business failed.
