Central Ave., died at 7:40 p.m. Sunday at McCune-Brooks Hospital after a long battle with breast cancer.
Mrs. McNatt was born on November 8, 1899, at Springfield. She was the second of three children (that we are aware of now) born to Charles and Alta (Lackey) Gates. She moved to Carthage in 1950.
Josephine was married to Virgil Carr McNatt on August 31, 1920, in Phoenix, Arizona. He died February 16, 1957.
Survivors include a son, Virgil C, McNatt, jr., of the home; a half sister, Veva Emerick, Carthage; two half brothers Ed Loyd and Erbie Loyd both of Carthage; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. Josephine was preceeded in death by two brothers, Schell E. Gates, and William "Bill" Gates, two half-brothers, Loren Loyd, and Frank Loyd, a step-brother, Stanley G. Loyd, a half-sister, Lois L. Gregory, and a step-sister, Velma Merritt
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami, Oklahoma Frank Knell will officiate.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
