DEATH OF S.M. DAILEY
S.M. Dailey, one of Higginsville's one and highly respected businessmen, departed this life Saturday, February 22.
Mr. Dailey has been identified with Higginsville business circles for the past twelve years and through that time has been one of our most progressive and energetic citizens. He was a son of James and Mary Miller Dailey and was born in Franklin county, Ind., in 1834. He was the youngest of a family of ten children and for several years of his younger life taught school with marked success. For four years he held the office of school examiner. In 1859 he was elected recorder of Wells county, Ind. In 1867 he was elected auditor and held that office until 1871.
In 1857 he was married to Miss Lucinda Merriman, of Wayne county, O. To them were born eight children, four of whom are living, Mrs. Mary E. Fulton, of Kansas City, Dr. F.W., of Mayview, Lewis M. and Mrs. Laura A. Freitag, of this city. He was a member in good standing of lodge No. 33, I.O.O.F. The funeral services were held in the Christian church Monday at 12:30 p.m., Rev. L.H. Otto officiating.
