Adeline (Jahnke) Gaedtke, age 94, of the Middle Road, Manitowoc, went peacefully on Sunday morning, Dec. 23, 2007, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers, to join her husband, Reinhardt.

Adeline was born on Nov. 13, 1913, in Luxemburg, daughter of the late Fred and Bertha (Raduenz) Jahnke of Luxemburg. Adeline was baptized on Dec. 7, 1913, and confirmed on June 12, 1927, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montpelier, Kewaunee County. Adeline attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Montpelier. On Aug. 26, 1932, she married Reinhardt Gaedtke. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1975. They farmed in the town of Manitowoc Rapids. For many years, Adeline was employed as a housekeeper. Adeline enjoyed spending time with her children, grand-children, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include seven sons and one daughter: Jerome (Ardella) Gaedtke; Roman (Shirley) Gaedtke; Reiny Jr. (Shirley) Gaedtke; Harlan (Caroline) Gaedtke; and Reginald (Phyllis) Gaedtke, all of Manitowoc; Herman (Carol) Gaedtke, Kiel; Rahlan (Mary Jane) Gaedtke, Stevens Point; and Maxine (Glenn) Gates, Two Rivers; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Lorraine Pieschek, Green Bay; Elda (Orville) Duescher, Luxemburg; and Deloris (Leland) Buchholz, Green Leaf; two sisters-in-law: Arline Gaedtke and Gertrude Vanderkinter, both of Manitowoc; 30 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Geraldine Behnke; one grandson: Darrel Behnke; two great-grandchildren: Cassandra Williamson and Zachary Hochkammer; one son-in-law: Harold Behnke; one brother and sister-in-law: Clarence (Doris) Jahnke; five brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Frank Pieschek; Earl Zastrow; Paul Gaeddtke; Everett Vanderkinter; and Herbert (Elfreida) Pautz.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at Faith Lutheran Church in Valders. The Rev. Melissa Maltman will officiate, with burial to follow at Gjerpen Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, Valders, from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday morning, Dec. 29, 2007, from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be appreciated in her name. The Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, Valders, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Aurora Medical Center for the care and compassion they provided for Adeline during her stay.
