Author. He was a conservationist and writer who loved nature and children so much that he wrote about them in books for 50 years. and his newspaper column, "Bedtime Stories". His first book, "Old Mother West Wind" published in 1910, introduced characters such Peter Rabbit, Jimmy Skunk, Sammy Jay, Bobby Raccoon and Joe Otter. Some of his other works included "The Green Meadow Club", "The Bedtime Stories Club", "Happy Jack Squirrel Saving Club" and "Now I Remember". He also broadcasted "The Radio Nature League" from WBZA Springfield, Massachusetts and wrote the newspaper column, "Bedtime Stories". By the time he retired in 1960, he had written more than 170 books and 15,000 stories for daily columns in newspapers. He died at the age of 91.
