She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Curtis Cook; her parents, Nathaniel A. Merritt and Martha Jane Arnold Merritt; one brother and two sisters.

She was survived by two daughters, Regina Cook of Clinton, LA and Carmel Nations of Jackson, LA; two sons, Virgil C. Cook and Wincey W. Cook, both of Natchez; three sisters, Margie Merritt and Mary Jane Stammerich, both of Natchez, and Martha Fowler of Baton Rouge, LA; one brother, Finton Merritt of Baker, LA; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
