He grew up in Upper Black Eddy, Bucks Co., Pennsylvania and Trenton. He graduated from Frenchtown High School in Frenchtown, Hunterdon Co.
He served his country as a Marine Corps sergeant during World War II. He participated in the Battles of Bougainville and Guam, and he was also stationed in Quantico, Prince William Co., Virginia.
Wilson married Jean Shirley Brinckloe on May 4, 1945 in Trenton.
He resided in Holland Twp., Hunterdon Co. for most of his married life. He worked as a young man for the Riegel Paper Corporation in Milford, Hunterdon Co., then moved to Jersey Central Power & Light in Holland Twp. as an administrative clerk. In his later years, he enjoyed his job as groundskeeper for Oak Hill Golf Course, also in Holland Twp.
Wilson loved drinking beer and playing quoits, beanbags and pool at New Year's celebrations and 4th of July picnics with his brothers and sisters and their families.
He was also a musician, and he submitted a few songs to the US Copyright Office in Washington, DC.
Wilson was the father of five children, including two who are deceased: Wilson Edwin 'Skip' and James Robert. He had 10 grand-children and three known great-grandchildren as of late 2007.
He died of a heart attack.
