Mrs. Mercy Rogers, of Bates, died on Christmas day at the advanced age of 86 years. She went to sleep Monday about 4 p.m., and her friends could not get her to speak after that. When roused she would look at them, in a dazed way, but seemed unconscious. She died at noon without a struggle and showed no sign of pain. She was the mother of Mrs. A. B. McConnell, of this city.
