Yesterday afternoon Mrs. Sarah Morgan, wife of M. C. Morgan, Esq., died very suddenly at her home on west Monroe street, north of the Capitol. It seems that she had been feeling unwell during the day, and on this account did not attend divine service at the First M. E. Church, of which she is a member. She prepared her three youngest children for Sunday school and started them on their way a few minutes before 2 o'clock. Soon after she was taken suddenly and violently ill, and Mr. Morgan, who was in the house at the time, ran to a neighbor's for aid. In a very few minutes they returned and found Mrs. Morgan breathing her last. It is understood that she had suffered some time from a disease of the heart, and this, it is thought, caused her death.

Mr. Morgan was utterly prostrated by the sudden blow and the little children were recalled from Sunday school to see the mother whose kisses were yet warm on their lips, lying in the cold, still embrace of death.

Died, in this city, April 13, Sarah F., wife of M. C. Morgan, of cerebral apoplexy. Mrs. Morgan was born in Pittsfield, Pike county, Illinois, on the 16th of August, 1843. She came to Springfield twenty-two years ago, and was here married to M. C. Morgan, Sept. 5, 1867. She leaves four children, the youngest Irwin Clifford, only 3 years old - too young to know his irreparable loss. She also leaves a mother and two brothers and a large circle of loving friends to mourn her sudden removal. She, with her husband and eldest daughter, Etta, have for years been members of the First Methodist Church of this city. As far as strength and opportunity offered, Mrs. Morgan was ready to forward every good work, and while this was emphatically true, yet her life work was untiring devotion to her family. He greatest anxiety at the thought of a possible separation from her children, was that they might be always under religious training. Again and again she impressed upon her family and friends her earnest conviction - "That there is no happiness outside of Christ."

Sad it is under any circumstances, to have a loved one snatched away by the sure arrow of death, but inexpressibly full of anguish is it, when the fell destroyer without a moments warning or a loving good bye, snatches away a tender mother and loving wife. Ever gentle and unassuming, Mrs. Morgan was most appreciated and loved by a small circle of intimate friends. To these friends, her place will always be vacant and her memory lovingly cherished.

The funeral will take place from the First M. E. Church this morning.
