Son of Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, US Congressman, John McLean and Sarah Belle Ludlow Garrard McLean. He was originally interred at Presbyterian Cemetery; however, was re-interred at Spring Grove Cemetery on May 8, 1847. Ludlow is buried in an unmarked grave in the Garrard plot that adjoins the McLean plot.
