Veta Garofalo, 85, of Fraser, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at Medilodge of Sterling Heights. She was born April 2, 1922, in Detroit.
Miss Garofalo graduated from Northeastern High School in Detroit.

Her employment began when she started working for the government as a clerk in Detroit at the United States and Canadian tunnel as a clerk.

She later worked for the U.S. Department of Justice in the Immigration & Naturalization Department for more than 35 years.

After retirement she liked keeping herself busy by crocheting, reading and traveling.

Some of her travels included going to Hawaii, Canada, Europe and New York to the World's Fair.

She is survived by her siblings, Mary Maratta, Josephine (Douglas) Martin, and Grace Burton; special nieces, Linda Kilduff and Shirley Ann Hemple; and many other nieces and nephews.

Veta was predeceased by her siblings, Gasper, John, Alexander and Maria Garofalo; and parents, Diego and Vita (nee Bongiorno) Garofalo.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Edmund Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Witkowski officiating.

Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-9 p.m. Friday, with a 7 p.m. rosary, at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road (at Common), Warren. Additional visitation is 9:30-10 a.m. Saturday at the church
