Evelyn Almeta Minnick Clem, 93, of Lenox died Feb. 1, 2008, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

Evelyn Clem, daughter of Anais Mary (Deprez) and Homer Londale Minnick, was born April 7, 1914, at Wright in Mahaska County. She attended Mayflower and Jasper 5 schools. Evelyn graduated from Corning High School in 1932 with a normal training degree. After graduation, she taught at Mercer 9 in Adams County and Platte 9 in Union County.

On June 13, 1937, Evelyn married Earl Harvey Clem in Rockford, Ill. They returned to Iowa and farmed in the Kent, Cromwell and Lenox areas. They moved to Lenox in 1955.

Evelyn graduated from Creston Community College and Drake University in 1968. She taught at Blue Grove School and Lenox Community Schools until she retired in 1979.

Evelyn was a member of Lenox United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Sorority, ISEA, NEA, Creston Cozy Campers and Kent Dinner Club, and was leader of the Douglas Merry Mixers 4-H Club.

Survivors include her daughter Saundra (husband Jerome) Leininger of Corning; sons, Edwin (wife Pam Hobbs) Clem of Ames and Paul (wife Patricia) Clem of Stevenage, England; sisters-in-law, Margarite Minnick, Leona Minnick and Creola Clem, all of Creston and Alta Jean McCafferty of Fort Collins, Colo.; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren and friend of 80 years, Gladys Kinnaird Gregg of Albany, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters and brothers-in-law, LaNita and Ralph Fulk, Thelma and Otis Holt, Dorothy Clayton George, Barbara and Bill Horne; brothers, Homer W. Minnick and George W. Minnick and brothers-in-law, Donald Clem and Robert McCafferty.
