John Henry Stahl, an old resident of Springfield, died at 9:40 o'clock last night at his residence, No. 422 South Tenth street, of old age, aged 77 years. He suffered a stroke of paralysis some time ago. Mr. Stahl had been in a feeble condition for some time, but had been confined to his bed only about ten days. He was born in Germany, and had resided in this city for thirty-seven years. He was employed at the Lamb foundry as a moulder until a few months ago.
He is survived by four daughters and one son, his wife dying only ten weeks ago. The children are: Mrs. Theodore Matthews, of Erie, Whiteside county, Ill.; Mrs. Henry Johnson, of Hannibal, Mo., and Miss Laura Stahl, Mrs. Phoebe Twyman and J. Frederick Stahl, all of this city. The last three were at their father's bedside when death came and the other daughters will be here to attend the funeral. The funeral was held at the German Methodist church. Interment in Oak Ridge cemetery.
