Country Music Pioneer. He was Australia's first cowboy entertainer and for over six decades had a career in country music. He began in 1934 with the live radio show "The Adventures of Smoky Dawson," which aired on 69 stations nationally until the 1960s. He recorded dozens of albums, was a regular TV performer, toured internationally and received the Grand Ole Opry Honor Award. His last album, "Homestead of My Dreams," was released in 2005, at which point he became the oldest recording artist in the world. He was inducted into Australia's Country Music Roll of Renown in 1983 and into the Australian Record Industry Hall of Fame in 2005.
