Died, at his residence in Dalton City, Tuesday, Oct. 25, of consumption, Josiah Vandruff, aged 73 years. The deceased was born in the state of New Jersey and had resided in this state for the past twenty-five years. The remains were brought to this city and the interment was in Oak Ridge cemetery.

Civil War service: Josiah VanDruff, Private, Co. H, 33rd NJV. Pre-war home: Sussex County, NJ. Enlisted on August 27th, 1863. Mustered in on September 4th, 1863, for three years of service. Discharged at Trenton, NJ. on May 3rd, 1865, by telegraphed instructions of the War Department, A.G.O., Washington, DC. Mustered out on June 12th, 1865.
Pay vouchers issued to his wife, residing in the county during the War- source: NJ State Archives, treasury vouchers on-line. 1876. Stryker, William S. Record of Officers and Men of New Jersey in the Civil War, 1861-1865, page 988.
1892, Dec. 8- Widow, Julia VanDruff first filed for CW pension benefits in Illinois, Application No. 565,616; but no Certificate was ever issued. She did not collect entitled benefits.
