James Stone is the son of Susan Jane Comb and Wiley Blount Stone. He was born in Tennessee and emigrated to Texas with his parents by 1838. He married Martha Susan Pool on October 20, 1853, in Nacogdoches County, Texas. In 1860 his occupation was listed as miller. By 1900, when his birth date was listed as March 1828, James and Martha had been married 46 years, and had had 11 children and 7 were living. Daughter "Safrona", whose birth date was given as December 1870, in Texas, was living with them.
