On August 19, 2003 of Blackwood, NJ formerly of the Cramer Hill section of Camden, NJ, age 90 years.
Husband of the late Mary A. Hamilton (nee Gillespie). Loving father of six children: Joseph P. III (Carol McCarroll), James A. (Kathleen), MaryAnn Purvenas (Frank), Kathleen Quirk (Butch) and David P. (Kathy Chase) and the late Thomas; ten grandchildren: Grace, Cathy, Suzanne, Desiree, Todd, Andrea, Shaun, Erin, Holly and Peter; 2 great-grandchildren, Ryan and Stephen; one sister, Laura McEvoy; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Campbell; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hamilton was a retired machinist after 40 years from RCA in Camden in 1974. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts of America for many years both in Camden and in Blackwood.
When he was young he was an Eagle Scout and Sea Scout. He was a Scoutmaster and Explorer advisor. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow.
In his later years after retirement he spent many hours refinishing furniture. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Epiphany Counsel #3485, Fairview Village, Camden, NJ.
Viewing will be Saturday 8:30-10:30AM at EARLE FUNERAL HOME 122 W. Church St. Blackwood, NJ. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00AM, St. Jude's R.C. Church, Blackwood. Interment, Calvary Cemetery Cherry Hill, NJ.
Tommy was murdered on Septmeber 6, 1949. He was one of thirteen people randomly gunned down that day.
