After James Renton died in 1918, Sarah lived with her daughter Jennie Coleman Freer in Highland Park, MI. She died there in 1922 and the funeral was held from the home at 39 Geneva St. Burial was on 4 April 1922, Woodlawn Cemetery on the William Skerrett plot.
