Professional Basketball Player. For four seasons (1971 to 1975), he played at the forward position in the National Basketball Association with the Cincinnati Royals, Kansas City-Omaha Kings and Philadelphia 76ers. He found success early on while attending Schenley High School (Pennsylvania), as he led his basketball team to the PIAA Championship in 1966. He enrolled at La Salle University and while with the Explorers, under the guidance of coach Tom Gola, Durrett earned co-MVP in the "Big Five" and was a key contributor to his team achieving a 23 win 1 loss record in 1969. He would earn "Big Five" MVP honors two additional times (1970 and 1971) and 1971, led La Salle to a berth in the NIT Tournament. Towards the conclusion of his collegiate career, Durrett suffered a serious knee injury, but in spite of this, he managed to be selected highly by Cincinnati, as the 4th overall pick during the 1st round of the 1971 NBA Draft. In 120 regular season games, he compiled 484 points with 233 total rebounds. Following his playing career, he remained in the sport, serving as a coach on the high school level. He was inducted into the La Salle University Hall of Athletics in 1976 and to date is still regarded by many as being one of the greatest players to emerge from Philadelphia's "Big Five" schools. He died from a heart attack.
