Michael enlisted in the Marines 13 October 1966, at Camp Lejuene, North Carolina.
Arriving in Vietnam 26 November 1967, Michael was assigned to HMM-265,
MAG-16, 1st Marine Air Wing. Michael was crew member aboard a CH-46A #152502 that was on a resupply mission during Operation Mameluke Thrust. The helicopter had made a landing to resupply Marines during the operation, 9 kilometers east northeast of the An Hoa Airfield. As the CH-46A was lifting off the landing zone it was it by hostile fire causing damage to the helicopter. The pilot attempted to fly the helicopter to another location when it crashed and exploded. Michael died as a result of bodily injuries during the crash. The helicopter crash area was located and secured with all bodies recovered.
Survived by his parents, Attilia and Laura Alberici of 14 Midred Court, Floral Park, New York.
