Blues Musician. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was a talented musician from an early age. As a youngster growing up he received his first guitar and soon taught himself how to play. His music interests included primarily hard rock and blues, while his inspirations included Stevie Ray Vaughan and Howlin' Wolf among others. In 1994, when he was fourteen years old he met a local bluesman named Felix Reyes, who ultimately took the young guitarist under his wings and taught him everything he knew. That same year Costello won the Memphis Beale Street Blues Society's talent award, beating out singer Susan Tedeschi. Following the contest Costello and Tedeschi became good friends and he soon began touring in her band as their lead guitarist. In 1996, when he was seventeen years old he left Tedeschi's band, formed his own group The Jivebombers, and soon released his debut album, "Call The Cops", that same year. The album which was highly praised by critics because of Costello's young age, and obvious knowledge of the blues, featured such classic tunes as "Take A Little Walk With Me", "One More Chance With You", "Sit Down Baby", and "Anna Lee." In 1998, he again teamed up with Susan Tedeschi and performed on her next album, "Just Won't Burn." Shortly after working with Tedeschi for the second time Costello toured extensively, revamped his band by adding a new bass player, and keyboardist, and soon returned to solo work. His next solo projects included, "Cuttin' In" (2000), "Moanin' For Molasses" (2002), and the self-titled, "Sean Costello" released on the Artemis Record Label in 2005. In 2001 his album "Cuttin In" which was a huge success in the blues community earned the musician a gold album, and a W.C. Handy Award for Best New Artist Debut. Over the years his career also led him to play with such music greats as B.B. King, Pinetop Perkins, James Cotton, Buddy Guy, Levon Helm, Willie Weeks, Steve Jordan, and Bo Diddley. On February 19, 2008, Costello's last work, "We Got It Together", was released. He passed away one day shy of his 29th birthday.
