Interesting side note: I don't know who filled out the death certificate, but I had always been told that Katy had passed away due to "dropsy" - which we thought was a kidney disease. The on-line medical dictionary describes it as: An old term for the swelling of soft tissues due to the accumulation of excess water. In years gone by, a person might have been said to have dropsy. Today one would be more descriptive and specify the cause. Thus, the person might have edema due to congestive heart failure.
Yet, the death certificate says cause of death: asthma with the secondary cause named as [what looks like in bad handwriting to be] malaria. Very strange.
In addition, under "full name of the deceased," the person filling it out said, "Katie Bell Raulston" yet the Bureau of Vital Statistics show it as Bettie Kathryn Raulston, which is correct.
Daughter of Clarence Melvin Raulston, Sr. and Nannie Bess Yarbrough Raulston. Beloved Sister to: C.M., Jr, Herbert, Garland, Kent, and Sue.
