Theodore H. Skelton, 69, of Clay City, died this morning January 31, 1974 at Richland Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Clay City Chapel of the Cardascio-Easley Funeral Home, with Rev. S. L. Milner in charge.

Interment will be in Clay City Cemetery, with military rites at graveside.

He was born in Clay County July 21, 1904, son of Oscar and Laura Clawson Skelton.

Surviving are three sisters, Miss Amy Skelton and Mrs. Dorothy Watts, both of Rantoul, and Mrs Nadine Smith of Pitman, N.J.

He was a veteran of World War II, and a member of the Clay City American Legion Post and Masonic Lodge.

ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON OCTOBER 8, 1942 AT THE NAVY RECRUITING STATION, SAINT LOUIS, MISSOURI. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AT THE NAVAL CONSTRUCTION TRAINING CENTER, NAVAL OPERATING BASE, NORFOLK, VIRGINIA; ADVANCED ‘SEABEE' TRAINING AT CAMP PERRY, WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA; AND THEN SERVED WITH THE FOLLOWING NAVAL CONSTRUCTION BATTALIONS: 67TH, 68TH, AND 19TH. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A CARPENTER'S MATE FIRST CLASS ON NOVEMBER 21, 1945 AT THE NAVAL PERSONNEL SEPARATION CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
