US Congressman. During the Civil War, he served as a Lieutenant in the Confederate Army and later engaged in mercantile pursuits. He served as chairman for the State Farmer's Alliance and was a member of the Mississippi State House of Representatives, 1883 to 1891. In 1891, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-second Congress, serving until 1893. Not a candidate for reelection, he engaged in agricultural pursuits until his death.
