Richard P. Nail, 91, of Clay City, died at 10:28 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2002, at Gateway Regional Hospital in Granite City.
There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Clay City Cemetery with Reverend Brad Harris officiating. Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Nail was born on February 6, 1911, in Iola, Okla., the son of Charlie and Mary (Bible) Nail. He married Helen N. George on July 20, 1935, in Sperry, Okla. She preceded him in death on July 25, 1997.
He was retired and had operated a rig in the oil fields. He was a member of Clay City Fire Department and also worked in Civil Defense.
Mr. Nail is survived by a son, Kenneth Nail and his wife, Mary, of Granite City; a daughter, Carol Nail, of Clay City; a brother, Doren Nail, of Skiatook, Okla.; a sister, Lorene Weathers, of Arkansas; and two grandchildren, Heather Towell and her husband, Ben, and Holly Nail.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, seven brothers and two sisters.
