Roman Catholic Cardinal. Monte Giberto born Luigi Capotosti entered seminary in Fermo and was ordained priest at twenty one years of age in 1885. Successively, between 1885 and 1906, he served as secretary to the archbishop of Fermo, faculty member of the seminary of Fermo, official of the archdiocesan curia and canon of the metropolitan cathedral chapter. Elected bishop of the diocese of Modigliana, he received his episcopal consecration on May 31, 1908. Appointed secretary of the Sacred Congregation for the Discipline of Sacraments on June 8, 1914, he was promoted to the titular archbishopric see of Thermae Basilicae on January 22, 1915. Pope Pius XI created him cardinal priest in the consistory of June 21, 1926 with the title of San Pietro in Vincoli. Pro–datary of the Apostolic Datary on July 29, 1931, he was named datary on September 23, 1933, an office which he held until his death. Camerlengo of the Sacred College of Cardinals between April 1, 1935 and June 15, 1936, the Cardinal died after undergoing several operations in Rome. His remains lie buried in a marble sarcophagus inside the parish church of Moresco, it whichvillage he was raised as a child. Next to his tomb, hangs an inscription attributed to Cardinal Eugenio Maria Pacelli, future Pope Pius XII, which reads "La Porpora che nel Cardinale Luigi Capotasti premiò il sapere, la saggezza, la virtù, i servigi resi alla Chiesa, diede nuovo splendore alla sua pietà profonda, alla sua commovente mansuetudine e umiltà."
