Dino Valenti
Birth: Oct. 7, 1937
Danbury
Fairfield County
Connecticut, USA
Death: Nov. 16, 1994
Santa Rosa

Singer, Songwriter. Originally born Chester William Powers, Valenti came to San Francisco in the early 1960's. In 1965 he was a founding member of the rock band Quicksilver Messenger Service, but soon afterwards was arrested for possession of drugs and sentenced to prison. Quicksilver Messenger Service would go on to be one of the top bands to come out of San Francisco during the late 1960's. After his release, he went on a solo career and released a self-titled album. In 1970, he rejoined Quicksilver Messenger Service as lead vocal and as a songwriter. In addition, he was also the writer of the song "Get Together," made famous when recorded by the Youngbloods in 1969, which went on to become an anthem for peace. (bio by: G.Photographer)
