She was born March 3, 1931, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas and Lilian Welch.
She was a 1948 graduate of St Francis School in Little Falls. On January 24, 1952, in Buffalo, MN, she married Duane Auger.
For 13 years Mary worked at General Mills as a food service analyst. She was an active bowler, participating on women's leagues in Albertville and Virginia. Mary and her husband moved numerous times, always passing through the Lake Vermilion area. Mary loved the lake. In the early 90's they retired to the Tower area. She will be deeply missed by her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Duane; children, Merton (Barbara) of Buffalo, MN, Murray of Eagan, MN, Marcia (Mark) Harff of Champlin, MN, and Debra (James) Gillach of Albertville, MN; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Kristine, Laurie, Stephanie, Ryan, Jamie, Alex, Tanner, Mary and Josephine; and a sister, Suzanne (Rodney) Dachel of Golden Valley.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Michael.
