"Death of A. R. Baldwin.
Alexander R. Baldwin, the well-known capitalist and real estate dealer, died suddenly yesterday [March 10, 1889] morning at his residence, No. 2006 Washington street. Deceased was a pioneer, having come to this State in 1849. After the mining excitement had somewhat abated he engaged in the real estate business, and for many years had an office at No. 328 Montgomery street. He had not been ill and his death was so unexpected that it is believed to have been caused by heart disease." END
