Miss Mamie Blackwood, member of a family prominently known throughout the state and a life-long resident of Spartanburg, died suddenly at 4:30 o'clock Sunday morning at her home, 592 Otis boulevard. Miss Blackwood was born in Spartanburg county and was a sister of the late Ibra C. Blackwood, well known member of Spartanburg bar and former seventh circuit solicitor and governor of the state. She was educated in Spartanburg schools, and lander College, formerly Williamston college. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. O. L. Pace, Mrs. Hattie Alexander, and Mrs. Floyd Smith, all of Spartanburg; one brother, W. A. Blackwood of Los Angeles, Calif.; four nephews, Capt. Charles M. Blackwood of Fort Myers, Va., William A. Blackwood, Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif., Ralph Alexander of Spartanburg, and Lieut. Charles M. Pace of Charleston; and four nieces, Laura Lee Blackwood of Columbia, Mrs. John M. Roberson of New York City, and Mrs. Lyman hamrick of Gaffney. Funeral services will be conducted at 5 o' clock this afternoon in J. F. Floyd funeral chapel. Internment will be in Greenlawn Memorial gardens. Pallbearers will be, C. R. Bannister, Thomas Whiteside, Frank Hodges, Paul Taylor, Richard Ferguson, D. S. Sullivan, Robert B. Carlisle and Earl V. Jones.
