Mrs. O.L. Pace, mother of County Court Judge Charles M. Pace and sister of the late Gov. Ibra C. Blackwood, died Friday afternoon at 1:20 in General Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Pace was 71 years of age and resided at 592 Otis Boulevard. She was born in upper Spartanburg co. in a small community formerly known as the Blackwood section and was the daughter of the late Charles and Louvenia Burns Blackwood. She attended public schools in Spartanburg Co. and completed her formal education at Converse College. Mrs. Pace was for many years and been an active member of the First Baptist Church. Her husband, Otis Leroy Pace, died May 25, 1952. Until several years ago, she operated the former Betty Burns Tea Room on E. Main St. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Blackwood Smith of 144 Advent St., and five grandchildren, including two of her daughter, Mrs. Lyman Hamrick of Gaffney, who died early last year. They are Wylie Lyman Hamrick of Gaffney and Mrs. Samuel M. Beattie, Jr., of Greenville. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church by Dr. John L. Slaughter. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
