Friar Sylvester John Saller OFM., was a famous, distinguished Michigan born professor within the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum of Jerusalem. Curator of the Franciscan Museum of Jerusalem, he taught archaeology and excavated the memorial of Moses on Mount Nebo, Bethany and the Jebusite burial place at the Dominus Flevit, of which he published the results. He was furthermore the co-founder together with Padre Bellarmino Bagatti OFM., of the reviews Liber Annuus and the Collectio Minor. Saller died in 1976 at the age of 80.
