Alton Merriman Dies at Farm Home North of LaGrange.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the home north of town for Alton Merriman, a resident all his life of LaGrange county. Rev. W.E. Weber of the Lutheran Church officiated and burial was made in Greenwood Cemetery. He had not been well for several years but continued his activities until a few weeks ago when fatally stricken.
Alton Merriman was born September 6, 1869, in Clay township, LaGrange county, Indiana, the son of Robert and Amanda Merriman. He was the oldest of a family of six children, all of whom preceded him in death except the youngest sister, Mrs. Zoe Garland of Berkeley, California. On May 26, 1897, he was married to Edith McManus. To this union were born three children, Veva, who died in infancy, Glen and Losen.
Surviving are the widow, the two sons, the daughter-in-law, five grandchildren and numerous cousins.
To his many friends Mr. Merriman was known as Alt. For years he was a good Samaritan to the host of unfortunates who chanced to be passing through LaGrange. He was instrumental in finding work for local young men and strangers on farms of the county. Of a friendly and unselfish nature, he had the high regard of many far and near.

Card of Thanks.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude for the many kind deeds, sympathetic words and the beautiful floral tributes during our recent bereavement.
Mrs. Edith Merriman.
Mr and Mrs. Glen Merriman and family.
Mr. an Mrs. Losen Merriman.
