Mrs. W. E. Monroe

Mrs. Artie Woods Monroe, 60, wife of W. E. Monroe and lifelong resident of McMinn County, died last night at her home in the Clearwater community. She had been ill for several months. She was a daughter of the late Will and Alice Key Woods. Mrs. Monroe was a member of Pond Hill Baptist Church in McMinn County. She is survived by her husband: three sons, Claude of Chattanooga; Marion and Troy Monroe, both of Athens; four sisters, Mrs. Arthur Fonder and Mrs. Clarence Pruitt, both of Chattanooga; Mrs. Henry Conner, Etowah; Mrs. Rob. Mabon, Seattle, Wash.; brothers, Fred and Johnny Woods, Athens; four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Pond Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. James Tilley and C.E. McDonald officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the home.
