Robert D. "Bob" Flemming, 68, of Cherry Valley went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Bob was born July 11, 1939, in Belvidere, the son of Robert J. and Ruby (Downing) Flemming. He married Janice "Jan" Versetti on May 30, 1968, in St. Bridget Catholic Church in Loves Park. Bob graduated from Belvidere High School in 1958 and attended Northern Illinois University for two years. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He retired from AMCORE Mortgage as a real estate appraiser in 2004 and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the SM and SF Club, the American Lombardi Society and a delegate for the Association of Clubs. Bob loved golfing, fishing, gardening, the outdoors and warm weather and was a model train collector, a huge Cubs fan and cherished spending time with his grandson, Drew Robert, who was the apple of his eye. Bob is survived by wife, Jan; children, Tanya (Timothy) Kregul and Christopher Flemming; grandson, Drew Robert Kregul; sister, Roberta Turner; mother-in-law, Jeanne Highstreet; brother-in-law, John (Vicki) Versetti; sisters-in-law, Kay (Pat) Haller and Julie (Bill) Nichols; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; father-in-law, John Versetti; and brother, James Flemming. Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, with visitation from 9 a.m. to time of service; Father Matthew T. Rudden will officiate. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
