LaVerne W. Anderson

LaVerne W. Anderson, 92, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis and a former resident of Columbus.

She was born Sept. 20, 1912, in Columbus. Her parents were Perce and Nellie (Hawes) Williamson. She married Burke E. Anderson in 1936. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1977. Survivors include several first and second cousins.

She attended Franklin College and Indiana University, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

She was a longtime employee of the Indiana State Capitol Building, where she worked as a receptionist in the records department, and as secretary for Lt. Gov. Robert Orr, retiring in 1984.

She was named a Sagamore of the Wabash and was active in the Republican Party. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and First Christian Church in Columbus and was a former member of Franklin County Club.

She enjoyed collecting angels.

The Rev. Greg Tatum will conduct a private service Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus. Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home in Columbus is handling arrangements.

The funeral for LaVerne W. Anderson, 92, of Indianapolis, formerly of Columbus, was Saturday at Garland Brook Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Greg Tatum officiating.

Burial was at Garland Brook Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rod and Scott Lewellen, Bill Hawes, Buff Bangert, Ralph Fults and Leonard Huffman.

Mrs. Anderson died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.
