SPRUCE PINE - Viola Willis, 94, of the Rebels Creek community, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Bessie Willis Boone, and wife of the late Aude Willis. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Willis; brothers, George, Jeter and Howard Boone; and sisters, Effie Swann, Ora Woody and Willie Griffith. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of Rebels Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Betty Boston of Spruce Pine, and Katherine Crowder and Margaret Beaver, both of Bakersville; a brother, Homer Boone of Bakersville; sisters, Alma Lou Wilson and Jennie Griffith, both of Spruce Pine; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Friday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. David Philbeck and Woody Dillingham officiated. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m Saturday in Rebels Creek Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
