Patricia Dorsey Hooker, 78, of Williamsburg, died September 4, 2003. Pat, as she was known to her family and to her many friends, died from complications of a stroke suffered in June, 2003. She was born April 11, 1925 in New York, daughter of legendary Big Band Leader and trombone player, Tommy Dorsey. Pat led a full and interesting life, attending school in Hollywood while her farther made a movie, The Fabulous Dorseys. She graduated from Friends Academy and attended the College of William and Mary, where she met and married her husband of 57 years, H. Lester Hooker Jr. Pat and Les moved back to Williamsburg in 1963 when Les became the Athletic Director at William & Mary. Pat was an enthusiastic sports fan, as well as enjoying bridge and mah jongg. She also was an avid reader. She is survived by a son, H. Lester Hooker III "Bubba" and his wife, Edna Lee; a daughter, Patricia H. Newman and husband, James, all of Williamsburg. Pat's other two daughters are Suzanne H. Parker, and husband Ed, of Hampton, and Joanne Hooker -Melton and husband John, of Memphis, Tenn. Pat is also survived by her brother, Thomas Dorsey III and wife, Barbara, of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Austin Hooker Newman, Kristin Hooker Tidwell and husband Glenn, H. Lester Hooker IV, Dorsey G. Hooker , Charles W. Parker, Jessica Marie Parker, and Taylor Dorsey Melton. Interment West Hampton Memorial Gardens in Richmond. Memorial donations may be made to the Walnut Hills Baptist Church , 1014 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, Va. 23185. Bucktrout of Williamsburg is in charge of the arrangements.
